Use of Generative AI

Our school has established guidelines for using ChatGPT and other generative AI tools in school life. The reason for these guidelines is that even though generative AI has recently made remarkable progress and has an innovative impact on society, its negative impact on the real world has been seen as a problem.

It is no exaggeration to say that mastering generative AI literacy is necessary for all people. We hope that you will observe the following precautions, learn how to use it correctly, and safely with reference to examples of inappropriate and appropriate use, and make effective use of it for your academic and extracurricular activities.

Precautions

  1. Do not leak personal or confidential information, including but not limited to non-public research data, finance, medical information, and the names of other students or personnels. Information shared with publicly-available generative AI tools can be stored and exposed to external entities.
Please be extremely careful when entering personal or confidential information into generative AI. As a basic rule, do not input such information into generative AI.
  1. Pay attention to the accuracy and reliability of information
Generated information from generative AI is not guaranteed to be accurate or reliable as the information is taken from various websites and webpages around the internet, including personal blogs, some of which have not been updated for many years and contain outdated information. Please check the accuracy, source, and evidence of the content before using it.

Examples of inappropriate and risky use of generative AI

  1. Writing assignments, reports, and papers
Acts of submitting things that are created by generative AI may be considered plagiarism due to the lack of originality or due to the inclusion of copyrighted information. Plagiarism is a serious academic misconduct and must be avoided..
  1. Entry of works in competitions and extracurricular activities
There have been multiple cases in which AI-generated works have won prizes, which have since became a social problem due to the nature of the work not being considered as resulting from the artists/authors own efforts.

Examples of beneficial uses of generative AI

  1. Receiving hints and information prompts during discussions and brainstorming
  2. Being used as an English conversation partner

Use in Classes

In each class, teachers will decide if students can use generative AI and any restrictions on its usage. Students should follow the instructions of the teacher in charge of the class. If not specifically stated, students should assume that the use of generative AI should be avoided or minimalized.

* The above information will be updated as necessary according to the evolution of the AI.
