Striving to produce global innovators
in a 9-year integrated program
with four stages: 5 years + 4 years

We carry out our "5+4" integrated 9-year education course
to foster global innovators by combining the Engineering Design Education (ED Education) of ICT
and the Project Design Education (PD Education) of KIT's undergraduate and graduate school.

ICTEngineering Design Education

Overview of Engineering Design Education

  • Fundamental and practical skills in hardware production
  • Fundamental and practical skills in software production
  • Seminars on computer basics
  • Seminars on design thinking and problem identifying/solving process
  • Group discussions
  • Engineer Ethics

Using the basic skills listed above as a foundation, we advance from simple themes to more advanced and complicated topics. Through identifying and solving problems in collaboration with the local community and industry, students gain intelligence in science and engineering.

Abilities you will develop in the Engineering Design course

  • Computer skills
  • Creativity
  • Teamwork
  • Problem identifying and solving
  • Self-directed study
  • English communication skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge to create new value

Information into knowledge -KIT/ICT School System-

At International College of Technology (ICT), we define the individuals needed in society as "Global Innovators" and created the education school system "5+4" in conjunction with Kanazawa Institute of Technology (KIT) as the core education program for developing individuals of high intelligence.

There is no doubt the future of our society is "global", and "highly information oriented." The appearance of artificial intelligence signifies an even larger change. Therefore, we believe "individuals of high intelligence" will be increasingly valuable in society and sought out in the future.

ICT's ED Education

Engineering Design Education (ED Education) developed by ICT strives to promote the human nature of helping others and abilities such as "insight", "observation" and "sympathy" to foster "inspiration." In addition, we aim to encourage the growth of students' minds and ability to create new value through repeating the design thinking process of "idea generation" and "design and realization" and gather experience by working in teams and trial and error.

We believe in the great benefit of beginning this "mind growth process" at the age of fifteen, a period when human sensitivity is said to be at its sharpest, and the effectiveness of this school system. From age eighteen, students will study together with first- and second-years students of KIT.

Co-creation Education with KIT

KIT is currently a member of the "CDIO Initiative" created by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Chalmers University of Technology in 2000. CDIO Initiative is the world standard for engineering education (consisting of twelve frameworks) and 173 institutes from 40 nations (as of September 2019) are members. We incorporate the CDIO promoted process of "Conceive", "Design", "Implement", and "Operate" into our Project Design Education system and carry out society implementation aimed education by positioning it at the core of our education for the first to fourth undergraduate students and graduate school students. ICT students will practice turning "information into knowledge" throughout our "5+4" school system.

Global Innovators

There was a time when information was most valuable. Now, society needs "new value (innovation)" and individuals who can create it. During the value creation process, "collaborating with others as a team" is most important.

We call individuals who hold the ability to exchange heated discussions and knowledge with other team members with different experiences, points of view and information, "Global Innovators". Our aim is to foster leading engineers who can play an important role in our new society.
