Otago Polytechnic

Otago Polytechnic is New Zealand’s oldest institution of higher education. Otago Polytechnic and our school have cooperated on educational programs under a formal agreement since 2002. As a polytechnic, the school provides practical knowledge and skills for graduates to function effectively in industry right after graduation, and it is highly evaluated by employers. Over ten thousand students are enrolled, about 230 of whom are foreign students from 27 different countries.

Improving English skills through home stay

All students stay at the home of a local family, thus improving their English skills through daily life. Students can enjoy leisure activities and Christmas and other holidays with their home-stay family.

Studying abroad for a year gave me strength to take on challenges.
Now, I’m thinking of launching a business.

Studied abroad for a year in 2016.

I studied in New Zealand in my third year. At Otago Polytechnic, we studied engineering in English in addition to taking English classes. Many of the classes were project-based, and I did game development independently. Living away from my family helped me to become independent and ambitious. I also became aware of various good points and bad points of Japan by looking at it from the outside. The objective observation skills I acquired will surely help me to come up with ideas when I start working. I would like to launch a business in the future and expand it worldwide.
