The Egypt-Japan KOSEN College (EJ-KOSEN), a national institution in Egypt, officially opened on September 21st, 2025. Supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), EJ-KOSEN has introduced Japan’s distinctive five-year integrated engineering education program for students who have completed junior high school.

Located northeast of Cairo, the campus offers systematic education in fields aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including robotics, mechatronics, and information and communication technology. Similar to Japanese KOSEN institutions, EJ-KOSEN emphasizes practical learning through Project-Based Learning (PBL), laboratory work, hands-on training, internships, and final-year projects, aiming to cultivate highly creative and skilled engineers.

On January 30th, 2026, a delegation of 12 members from EJ-KOSEN and JICA visited the International College of Technology, Kanazawa, including its fully residential Hakusanroku Campus. They also toured the Kanazawa Campus, where facilities and equipment are shared with Kanazawa Institute of Technology. During discussions with President Masaaki Shikada and faculty members, lively exchanges were held on topics such as engineering education in the age of AI, curriculum design for developing globally competent professionals, and strengthening practical skills through collaboration with industry.

Furthermore, EJ-KOSEN faculty members stayed in the student dormitory at the Hakusanroku Campus and participated in a five-night, six-day intensive training program from February 1, 2026. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Alaa Hussien and Lecturer Nagwa Fekri Rashed, both from Egypt, they deepened their understanding of class management and assessment methods, educational and research environments, student life support systems, career education frameworks, and approaches to supporting independent learning through learning mentors.

Thanks to the strong commitment of the EJ-KOSEN faculty members, this visit and training program became a meaningful opportunity that will contribute to the establishment and further development of Japanese-style KOSEN education in Egypt.
