The 35th National College of Technology Programming Contest was held on Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at the Nara Centennial Hall in Nara Prefecture. In this contest, participants competed in three categories: Themed Section, Free Section, and Competitive Section. From ICT, five students participated in the Themed Section: 1st year students Soma Ioroi and Seiya Fujiwara, 2nd year students Taichi Eguchi, Hayato Sumi, and Ruuna Nakazawa. They were awarded the Fighting Spirit prize. The theme of the Themed Section was "Solving Environmental Issues Using ICT," and they proposed a system called " DASUPOSU” - A Compost Sharing Platform Connecting Farmers and Households."

"DASUPOSU" is a system consisting of a smart composter and a mobile application. The smart composter automates the composting process, eliminating the effort required to turn food waste into compost. The mobile application syncs with the composter and serves as a platform for sharing information and facilitating exchanges. It connects composter users with farmers or home gardeners who need compost. This system allows households to easily convert food waste into compost and distribute it, turning what would normally be discarded into a useful resource. By making food waste recycling simple and accessible, DASUPOSU enables households to take a proactive role in addressing environmental issues.

In June, the preliminary round was held, with 46 entries submitted from across the country. From these, 23 teams were selected to compete in the finals. During the main competition, a presentation review was conducted on the first day, followed by two demonstration reviews and a manual review on the second day.

National College of Technology Programing Contest Encouragement Meeting

On Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, a National College of Technology Programing Contest Encouragement Meeting was held. President Masaaki Shikada, faculty and staff members, and 2nd year student Kanamu Yamamoto, representing the student council, attended this meeting. In addition, alumni association representatives, including President Masaki Nonaka and Vice President Takashi Nishitani, also joined to offer words of encouragement to the students participating in the National College of Technology Programming Contest.
Following the speeches, the five participating students and their advisor, Meguru Ito sensei, shared their enthusiasm and determination for the competition.
