アサギマダラをモチーフに美しいオリジナル商品を開発　
2年生アグリビジネス班による「アサギマダラ事業」

　こんにちは！国際高専の広報を担当している志鷹 英男です。
　20年近く金沢工業大学の広報を担当した後、3年前から国際高専の広報活動に取り組んでいます。これが仕事として、なかなか面白い。趣味と実益を兼ねて、よく写真も撮っているのですが、昨年の9月、2年生がエンジニアリングデザインの一環で取り組んでいる白山麓キャンパス前の紅はるか畑の様子を撮影しにいった際、畑近くの植物にきれいな蝶がたくさん飛んでいることに気がつきました。それがアサギマダラとの出会いです。

　今年7月に、山崎 俊太郎教授から電話があり、2年生のアグリビジネス班が「高専紅はるか事業」に加えて、新規に「アサギマダラ事業」に着手したことを教えていただきました。地元住民による白山ろく里山活性化協議会が昨年から、道の駅瀬女に隣接する耕作放棄地にフジバカマを植え、初夏から秋にかけて飛来するアサギマダラの休憩地として道の駅ならぬ"空の駅"として「アサギマダラ空の駅・白山」を整備し、子どもたちを対象とした「アサギマダラ・マーキング調査体験」を始めたこと、国際高専でも2年生のアグリビジネス班がアサギマダラの集客力に着目した新規ビジネスの開拓に挑戦している、という内容でした。

　国際高専の特色として、解決策はアイデアで終わらせず、具体化して検証していくプロセスを重視しています。アサギマダラ事業では白山ろく里山活性化協議会の方々に事業内容に関するプレゼンを行い、9月23日（金・祝）に行われる「マーキング調査イベント」の際に、オリジナル商品の露店を出店することになりました。昨年はたった1日のマーキングイベントだけで終わった体験も、オリジナル商品を通じて、白山麓＝アサギマダラの聖地としてブランド化させていくことができます。

　アサギマダラをモチーフにした箸置きやキーホルダー、コースターを学生自身が、コンピュータスキルズ等で身につけたパソコンスキルでデザインし、校舎内のMaker Studioにあるレーザーカッターを使い、商品化しました。パッケージのデザインも学生が行いました。学生が作ったものだからと侮るなかれ、とても美しく繊細な商品に仕上がっています。

　9月23日（金・祝）は朝からあいにくの雨模様でしたが、それでも多くの親子連れが参加しました。国際高専の露店も家族連れで賑わっていました。当商品は道の駅瀬女で10月1日（土）まで販売されました。
　また、国際高専の金沢キャンパス21号館2階のブックセンター入口のキャンパスグッズコーナーでも販売されているほか、11月6日（日）に行われた国際高専学校見学会でも展示され、参加者の注目を集めました。

　白山麓キャンパス前に広がる耕作放棄地。しかしながら、地元住民のご協力を得ながら、今までにないブランド価値を生み出せることを学生たちは「アサギマダラ事業」でも実践しました。

Developing Beautiful Original Products Using the Asagimadara (Chestnut Tiger Butterfly) as a Motif
2nd Year Agribusiness Group's Butterfly Business

 Hello! My name is Hideo Shitaka, and I am in charge of Public Relations for ICT.
 After nearly 20 years being in charge of public relations at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, I have been working on public relations activities for ICT for the past three years. As a job, this is quite interesting. I often take photos as a hobby and for practical use. Last September, I went to take photos of the Beniharuka sweet potato field in front of the Hakusanroku campus. This is where 2^nd year students were working as part of their Engineering Design class. While taking photos, I noticed many beautiful butterflies flying among the plants near the field. That was my first encounter with an Asagimadara (chestnut tiger butterfly).

 In July of this year, professor Shuntaro Yamazaki called me to say that the 2^nd year Agribusiness Group had launched a new Asagimadara Project in addition to the Kosen Beniharuka project. Last year, the Hakusanroku Mountain Village Revitalization Council, a group of local residents, planted Fujibakama (Fragrant Eupatorium) on abandoned farmland adjacent to the Sena Roadside Station to create the "Asagimadara Sky Station Hakusan". While Sena is a place for people to rest from early summer to fall, this sky station will become a place for Asagimadara to rest as well. The 2^nd year Agribusiness Group from ICT was also taking on the challenge of developing a new business that focuses on the ability of the Asagimadara to attract visitors.

 One of ICT's characteristics is that we believe that solutions do not end with ideas. Students also need to focus on the process of materializing and testing ideas. For the Asagimadara project, students made a presentation on their project to the Hakusanroku Mountain Village Revitalization Council about opening a stall of original products, which they were able to do during the Asagimadara Marking Event on Friday, September 23^rd, which is a national holiday. Last year, this experience was only a one-day Asagimadara Marking Event. This year it was expanded to include the sale of original Asagimadara products and efforts to identify HAKUSANROKU (Foothills of Mt. Hakusan) as a sanctuary for Asagimadara.

 Agribusiness group members designed and built chopstick rests, key chains, and coasters using the skills acquired in Computer Skills lessons and the school laser cutter in the Maker Studio. Students also created the packaging for these products. The products were beautiful and delicate. They did a really good job.

 Unfortunately, the weather on Friday, September 23^rd, a national holiday was rainy from the morning, but many families took part. ICT's stall was crowded with visitors. After the festival, the products were sold at Sena Roadside Station until Saturday, October 1^st.
 They were also sold in the Campus Goods Corner at the entrance of the Book Center on the second floor of Building 21 on the Kanazawa Campus of ICT. They were on display at the ICT School Tour held on Sunday, November 6^th, attracting much attention from the participants.

  There are many stretches of abandoned farmlands in front of the Hakusanroku Campus. However, with the cooperation of local residents, the students were able to create awareness of the Asagimadara Project.

　こんにちは、白山麓高専事務室の間加田 侑里です。
　11月12日（土）、金沢キャンパスの体育館で、1、2年生（白山麓キャンパス）と4、5年生（金沢キャンパス）の合同スポーツフェスティバルが開催されました。

　両キャンパスの学生が一同に会する機会であったことから、11月27日（日）に開催される高専ロボコンの全国大会に出場する国際高専Aチームの壮行会が行われた後、バスケットボール、バドミントン、バレーボールの３競技の順で実施されました。学生たちは4学年混合の4チームに分かれ、ローテーションで３競技全てに出場する形式をとり、学生同士が競い合い、その中で優勝したチームが教員チームと対戦しました。どの競技も見応えのある試合と大きな歓声に包まれ、会場は大変盛り上がりました！競技終了後、各4チームに参加賞としてお菓子の詰め合わせが贈られました。

 　学生たちは日頃の学業から一旦離れ、仲間と力を合わせる機会となったと同時に、学年混合のチーム活動を通し両キャンパスの学生たちの親睦が深まる機会となりました。

 Hello, this is Yuri Makada from the Hakusanroku office.
 On Saturday, November 12th, a sports festival was held at the Kanazawa Campus gymnasium. 1<sup>st and 2nd students from Hakusanroku campus and 4th and 5th students from Kanazawa campus joined together to take part in the event.

 Since it was an opportunity for students from both campuses to get together, a send-off ceremony was held for the ICT A team which participated in the national ROBOCON competition held on Sunday, November 27th. This ceremony was followed by three sports: basketball, badminton, and volleyball, in that order. The students were divided into 4 teams with team members drawn from all 4 grades. Then, the teams selected students to play each of the three sports to play against the other 3 teams.  The winning team for each sport then played against a team of faculty members. All of the competitions were very exciting, with spectacular games and loud cheers from the audience! After the competition, each of the four teams received an assortment of sweets as a participation prize.</sup>

 The event provided an opportunity for students to take a break from their daily studies and join forces with their friends. At the same time, students had a chance to deepened friendships between the two campuses through mixed-grade team activities.

　こんにちは！国際高専1年の矢追 拓穂です。さて、今回は10月23日（日）に三重県のAGF鈴鹿体育館で行われたアイデア対決･全国高等専門学校ロボットコンテスト 2022 東海北陸地区大会の紹介をしていきます。
　今年は全10高専が集まり、それぞれの学校でAチームとBチームの２チームが参加しました。国際高専からは4年生3名のAチームと２年生3名、1年生5名のBチームが出場しました。Bチームは特別賞（牧野フライス賞）を受賞し、Aチームは技術賞と全国大会への出場権を獲得する大変嬉しい結果となりました。そして我々ロボコンメンバー以外の1年生も応援団として現地で応援しました。今回のテーマは「ミラクル★フライ」～空へ舞い上がれ！～ということで、高さ・面積の異なるスポットや滑走路、筒にロボットが飛ばした紙飛行機を乗せて得点を競う対戦型競技ルールになっています。そのため観客席に紙飛行機が飛んでくるという一面もありました。僕は選手ではないので実際にロボットを操縦はしていませんが、どの学校のロボットもそれぞれ全く違う個性があり感動しました。11月27日（日）には、全国大会が国技館で開催されるのでＡチームの4年生にはぜひ頑張ってもらいたいです。

Hello! This is Takuho Yaoi, a 1st-year student at ICT. This time, I would like to introduce the Tokai-Hokuriku Regional ROBOCON 2022, which was held on October 23rd at the AGF Suzuka Gymnasium in Mie Prefecture.

 This year, 10 schools attended and were divided into A and B teams, and from ICT, Team A consisted of three 4th-year students and Team B consisted of three 2nd-year students and five 1st-year students. Team B won a special award, and Team A won a technical award and the right to participate in the national competition. This time, 1st-year students who are not members of our robotics team also participated in the competition as a cheering group. The theme of this year's competition was “Miracle★Fly,”  in which robots launched paper airplanes to spots, runways, and tubes of different heights and areas to score points. Because of this, there was even one time when paper airplanes flew into the spectators’ seats. I am not a Robot contest member, so I did not actually control a robot, but I was impressed by the individuality of the robots from each school.

My name is Ian Stevenson.
 Usually for Halloween, ICT students carve pumpkins to make jack-o'-lantern. However, this year was not a good year for pumpkins. Maybe it was because of the unusually humid and wet August here at Hakusanroku campus. Whatever the reason, while my garden produced a lot of tomatoes, it did not produce any pumpkins. So, this year students made paper mache pumpkins to make into jack-o'-lantern.
 It is very easy to make a paper mache pumpkin. All you need is a balloon, strips of old newspaper, flour, water, string, orange paint and a place to let them dry.

1. Inflate the balloon and tie it off.
2. Tear the newspaper into strips.
3. Mix one cup of flour with two cups of water.
4. Dip the newspaper strips in the flour and water and wrap them around the balloon. They will harden into paper mache when they dry.
5. When you are finished wrapping the balloon, let it dry overnight.
6. The next day, paint the paper mache orange and let it dry overnight.

 You now have a paper mache pumpkin to decorate.

 On October 29^th, 8 first year students decorated their pumpkins. Some students cut a face into their pumpkin and some students painted a face on their pumpkin. Designs included a cat, a vampire, happy and sad faces. After they finished, the jack-o'-lanterns were hung in the school library. Students put small flashlights into the jack-o'-lanterns that had faces cut into them so that they would look spooky and mysterious in the dark.

 The jack-o'-lantern that had faces painted on them became piñatas on October 31^st. The jack-o'-lantern was filled with candy and hung in the air. One student was blindfolded, given a stick and tried to hit the piñata. Usually, they missed many times, but with encouragement and help from their classmates, the piñata was smashed open and all the candy fell out for the students to pick up.

 As you can see from the photos and movie the students had fun making the jack-o'-lanterns and even more fun smashing them open to get candy.

　例年、ハロウィンで、ICTの学生たちはかぼちゃを彫ってジャック・オー・ランタンを作ります。しかし、今年はかぼちゃにとって良い年ではありませんでした。おそらく、白山麓キャンパスの8月は例年になく湿度が高く、雨も多かったからかもしれません。どんな理由であれ、私の庭ではトマトはたくさんできたものの、かぼちゃは収穫できませんでした。そこで、今年は学生たちが紙粘土でかぼちゃを作り、それをジャック・オー・ランタンにしました。

　紙粘土のかぼちゃの作り方はとても簡単です。必要なものは、風船、古新聞の切れ端、小麦粉、水、紐、オレンジ色の絵の具、そして乾燥させる場所だけです。

1) 風船を膨らませ、結びます。
2) 新聞紙を短冊状にちぎります。
3) 小麦粉1カップと水2カップを混ぜます。
4) 小麦粉と水に新聞紙を浸し、風船に貼り付けます。乾くと固まり、紙粘土になります。
5) 風船を包み終えたら、一晩乾かします。
6) 翌日、紙粘土にオレンジ色のペンキを塗り、一晩乾燥させます。

　これで紙粘土のかぼちゃが完成です。

　10月29日、1年生8名がかぼちゃの飾りつけを行いました。かぼちゃに顔を切り抜く学生もいれば、顔を描く学生もいました。学生たちは、猫や吸血鬼、幸せそうな顔、悲しそうな顔など、様々なデザインに仕上げました。完成したジャック・オー・ランタンをライブラリーコモンズに飾り、顔を切り抜いたジャック・オー・ランタンの中には小さな懐中電灯を入れ、暗闇の中で不気味に神秘的に見えるように工夫しました。

　顔を描いたジャック・オー・ランタンは、10月31日にピニャータとなり、お菓子を詰めて宙に吊るしました。1名の学生に目隠しをして、棒を渡してピニャータを叩き割ります。普段は何度も的を外すのですが、クラスメイトの励ましと助けもあり、ピニャータを叩き割ることに成功し、学生たちは散らばったお菓子を拾い集めました。

　写真と動画をご覧いただくと分かると思いますが、学生たちはジャック・オー・ランタンを作ったり、さらにそれを叩き割ってお菓子を拾い集めたりして楽しんでいました。

　こんにちは、白山麓高専事務室の間加田 侑里です。今回はハロウィンの時期に開催されたイベントについて紹介します。

　10月26日（水）、ラーニングセッション（夜の活動時間）では、ハロウィンに向けた飾り付けが行われました。1年生の夏木 亮凪さんが、床から吹き出ている空調機からの風を利用し、吹き出し口側にビニール袋を貼り付け、お化けが風に揺られているように見せるという演出を思いつきました。学生たちは、ビニール袋に様々な表情をした顔や猫、ピエロなどを描き、取り付けました。風でユラユラと揺れるお化けがとても可愛らしく、教職員からも大好評でした！

 Hello, this is Yuri Makada from the Hakusanroku office. This time, I would like to write about Halloween at ICT.

 On Wednesday, October 26th, during the learning session (evening activity time), students put up Halloween decorations. 1st-year student Ryona Natsuki came up with the idea of attaching plastic bags to the air conditioner outlets and using the wind blowing through them to make it look as if ghosts were swaying in the wind. Students painted various faces, cats, clowns, etc. on the plastic bags and then attached them to the outlets. The ghosts, floating above the ground, were very cute and a big hit with the faculty and staff!

　10月31日（月）、白山麓キャンパスでは飾り付けだけではなく、学生たちは海賊、メイド服、ルイージや今流行りのアーニャなどの衣装を身にまとい、教員たちは食べ物に扮したコスチュームなど仮装をしながら、授業が行われ、真剣にノートを取る学生たちの姿はユニークな光景でした。

　授業終了後、ハロウィンコスチュームパレードが開催されました。学生たちと教員たちはステージを歩き、観客である参加者に向かって自己紹介やポージングを決め、アピールしました。中でも、ラーニングメンターのアピラク・サンゲンチャイ先生はハリーポッターに扮し、呪文を唱えると共にドローンを操り、モノを空中へ浮遊するというパフォーマンスを披露した場面では、観客側から「お～！！」「凄い！！！」など歓声が上がり、印象的でした！その後、「最も面白い」「最も怖い」「最も可愛い」コスチュームを決めるコンテストが行われ、それぞれの優勝者には景品としてお菓子が贈られました。

　普段の学校生活とは違った１日となりました。

 On Monday, October 31st, the Hakusanroku campus was not only decorated, but students also dressed up as pirates, maids, Luigi, and the recently popular Anya, while faculty members dressed up in food costumes and other fancy attire. The students earnestly taking notes in class was a unique sight.

 After classes, a Halloween costume parade was held. Students and faculty members walked on stage, introduced themselves and posed for the audience of other parade participants. Learning Mentor Apirak Sang-ngenchai sensei dressed up as Harry Potter and performed ICT magic by using spells and a wand to levitate a drone into the air. The audience was very impressed and shouted “Wow! and “Awesome!”.
 Afterwards, a contest was held to decide the funniest, scariest, and cutest costumes, and the winners of the contests were given sweets as prizes.

 It was a unique and memorable day that was different from everyday school life.
